Chippewa Boots 8” Bay Crazy Horse Upland Boot Review:
These boots are handcrafted in the USA, something that is hard to find in boots anymore. They have 400 grams of Thinsulate Ultra, and a Cascade style outsole. The insulation is a good mix of the right amount of warmth in cold weather but not too bulky to make the boots difficult to walk in. The sole is flexible even in the cold, and has good traction lugs throughout. The sole is a stitch down construction which means these could be re-soled by a repair shop if you wear out them out. The exterior leather is thick and hardy, with laces that appear to be waxed so they won't absorb moisture. They have a waterproof liner that is breathable, and seems to have similar characteristics to Gortex. Break in time wasn't too long on these boots, although the leather is thick and does take some time to get some of the stiffness worked out. Once I wore them a few times they were very comfortable. Overall I think these boots will be durable and last a long time.
