Pelican is the premier manufacturer of protective cases. The 1700 Long Gun case follows in line of their tradition of delivering superior protective cases. This case measure 38” long by 16” wide by 6” deep. The internal dimensions measure 35.75" long x 13.50" wide x 5.25" deep. It’s great for short rifles, tactic firearms or breakdown guns. Inside, it features solid foam which you can easily customize to fit your firearm & gear (all you need is some chalk & a sharp knife – electric knife preferred). Once customized, you’ll know that your gear is safe and sound.
The case features four double throw latches and has two handles. The center handle is fixed (doesn’t fold down) – I personally like that, but for some this can be a small issue as that handle can protrude a bit.
The 1700 is a bit beefy, weighing in at 17 pounds, but that’s a small trade-off to ensure your firm arm is safe! The case can easily be transported thanks to ball-bearing wheels – it glides along most surfaces with ease.
The case is watertight and dust-proof thanks to the tongue and groove fit and o-ring. We recommend purchasing a couple of silica-gel moisture packets to place inside to help with high humidity. The Pelican 1700 Long Gun Case also uses a automatic pressure equalization valve which lets out built up air pressure while maintaining that watertight seal.
Thanks to the exterior design, multiple cases can easily be stacked on top of one another and nest together. The case is available in black, OD green and desert tan.
The Pelican 1700 Long Gun case is the top of the line. Sure, you’ll pay a bit more for this case – but your firearm is a long term investment that deserves sincere protection that you will appreciate!
