I used Powerbelts for a recent Alberta black bear hunt. I shoot a Thompson Center Omega with 100 grains of powder. The Powerbelts did the track as I connected on a 17 inch skull black bear that was 6 ft. long. The double lung shot at 46 yards put the bear down exactly 16 ft. from the impact point. The Powerbelts ripped a nice hole all the way through the bear. The sight I will never forget was a small pile of lung "material" that dripped out of the exit hole of the bear. The bullet really did the trick. I used the 348 gr. bullet to make sure it had enough take down power. I have also shot 295 gr Powerbelts and these would have done just as well on the bear. I know people that use all the way down to 195 gr Powerbelts on deer and it takes them down just fine. If I could do it over, I would drop down to the 295 gr. bullets and use them for both deer and bear. That would save me from getting two different gr. bullets and practice shooting with both.
