Drake Waterfowl Systems Floating Blind Bag - XL Review:
The Drake Waterfowl Floating Blind bag is perfect for most waterfowling situations. The bag is larger enough to carry the gear you truly need, but not too larger that it becomes too heavy to carry; the XL bag measures 20” Wide x 12” High x 11” Deep.
This bag is loaded with well design pockets including a see through map pocket. There are over 20 pockets - many are incorporated around the inside making them great for storage of items like keys, cell phone, small flash light, wallet, license, or other important gear so that it doesn't lie loosely in the bag (making it easy to find this stuff when you need it). The top includes a thermos/jacket sleeve on the top - using elastic cords, you can easily carry a thermos securely (and so that it is concealed by the camo bag so it doesn't glare in the sunlight). There is a large pocket on one end designed specifically to hold lose shells - let's face it, after a day of hunting, you don't exactly have plans to put those shells from your pocket back in the shell box - so this pocket is very functional.
Drake's floating blind bag is made from rugged materials (PVC backed 900 denier polyester) so it will certainly stand up to harsh elements. The bag will float with the equivalent weight of 3-4 boxes of shells and the main compartment is waterproof from the bottom to the zipper. If the top is closed, it should fend off the rain from getting into the main compartment - so the entire bag is pretty impervious to moisture.
There is only one slight thing we'd change with this bag - make it so that the map pocket can attach to the main cover - often times our guides don't need the map pocket.
I've gone through several other bags and I've used none of them like I use this one. Other bags have either worn out or their functionality has been so poor that they are more of a burden than a help. I take Drake's Blind Bag XL with me on every walk to the blind.
